My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

12/22/10: An update from "Buddy's Foster Dad...

"Buddy's second week with us has gone well. He's been changed over to a grain-free diet and his ear infections are gone. He's settling in with his new canine companions but Buddy still becomes a little anxious when the puppies play hard. Buddy's a great guy - a typical boxer who thinks he's an 86 lb lap dog. Here's a few updated pics..."

12/17/10: Buddy Is An Innocent Victim Of The Economy

Buddy is a 5 ½ year old handsome fawn male boxer who weighs in at 86 lbs. He was surrendered by his family who was going through very tough financial times and could no longer provide a home for him. Buddy spent his entire life with the same family, and is doing his best to adjust to his new life.

Below is an update from Buddy’s foster dad:

“Buddy is a great dog - very friendly and well behaved around people. He is full of boxer kisses and wiggles and is completely housebroken. He knows several commands (sit, shake, down, come and probably a few others that I haven’t discovered yet). He does not “counter surf” and the only thing he chews is his favorite squeaky ball.

He has only been in our home for a few days but it’s clear that he is showing signs of stress and anxiety from all the changes he has gone through in the past couple of weeks. He craves attention (he’s my new shadow).

Buddy is especially anxious around my dogs (active younger boxers) and is having a difficult time adjusting to them and vice versa. My guess would be that he did not have much interaction with other dogs in the past. He may be happiest as the only dog in a home.

His medical record indicates that over the last couple of years, Buddy has had a series of ear infections from an allergy to grain products. We are now transitioning him to a grain free diet. In the past he also had an untreated ACL injury on a hind leg that causes a slight limp that is noticeable by the end of the day. Some regular exercise and weight loss would likely help the healing process.

Buddy really is a wonderful dog who is deserving of a new family who will love him.”
