UPDATED BIO 12/20/2010: Allie is a 4 year old 9 lb (currently pudgy and should be 7.5 lb) little girl who is being fostered in New Port Richey. She and another yorkie, Austin, were rescued from a breeder who hasn't properly cared for her dogs.
Sadly, we have found that many dogs rescued from this situation are unable to bark. We are unsure at this time if Allie or Austin can bark. It is possible they have had the barbaric procedure called "debarking" done to them. We are hopeful that isn't the case, but we do take comfort in the fact that thanks to our donors and supporters, these two babies will live out the rest of their lives in comfort and in a loving home! They are sweet and very affectionate dogs and seem to really enjoy attention. Here's what Allie had to say:
"How exciting I left my old cage this morning, traveled from one side of the state to the other so much to see and smell. So many new people to lick! They each have their own smell you know it’s funny how different each one of them are. I finally got to a place called “my foster home”, got a bath, yuck I hated that and I told my FM really loud that my ears hurt – but then I some food and a treat. I’ve got a sweater, a nice soft bed all my own and a lot of kisses!
This is REALLY different - I have always lived in a cage. I got lots of food; my shots and heartworm medication but my owner didn't take care of me the way she should. I’m really liking this so I give my Foster Mom and Dad lots and lots of kisses!!! FM says I will go to the Dogtor next week to get a physical, my ears fixed up, get spayed and get my teeth looked at - then she said I will be ready for my forever home! Could it be yours?"
INITIAL BIO 12/19/2010: Allie is a 4 year old 9 lb (a little pudgy at the moment since she just had babies) SWEETHEART of a little girl who is being fostered in New Port Richey, FL.
Allie was surrendered by her owner who could no longer care for her. After her foster parents picked her up, she spent the whole ride to her new home on FD's lap. She loves to give kisses and is super sweet. She appears to get along with other dogs and loves people. Please stay tuned for updates as we get to know Allie better. She still needs to be vetted, get microchipped, and have her spay surgery. She can't wait to have a new family of her very own where she can be treated like the princess she is!
