My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pi - female, spayed, vet checked, vaccinated to date inclu Rabies, ~3yr, ~65lbs (about 12lbs over weight!), knee high, Lab/Collie.

Due to a family break up Pi needs to find a home.

***(Check out Pi on YouTube! Video provided by her foster mom - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmxruIXrAac )***

Pi has been well cared for, she is friendly, social, well mannered and fun to have around. She is house trained and crate trained but is used to free roam of her home. Pi doesn’t get in to trouble or chew, she waits quietly until you arrive home again, she is always clean and quiet in the home whether you are there or she is alone. She knows some basic commands like sit, out, no, walk, lay down…but could use a little more work on her leash manners, she currently uses a haulti when walked. Pi has lived with cats, other dogs and has been around children of various ages. She is great with other dogs and loves to run and play with them so she would be perfect as a second dog but is also fine on her own. She is good with respectful children over the age of 5yrs. Pi is currently in a foster home with two other large dogs and respectful children of various ages, she really enjoys play time in the yard with the other dogs and has started sleeping in the children’s rooms at night – she gets along great with the whole house and anyone who comes to visit. Pi is in great healthy and has been seen by our vet, she is however very over weight… Her new family should make sure Pi has fixed feeding times – no free feeding! And she doesn’t really need any treats. Pi loves to get out and exercise so as long as her family can stick to strict feeding it should be no problem getting the extra pounds of with a good diet and plenty of exercise and play time. Ideally Pi’s new family can walk her for about an hour a day to get her losing the weight. She also seems to have a bit of a sensitive tummy so she doesn’t get table scraps, rawhides or other bones and just eats her kibble so it should be easy to keep a diet on track.

A note from Pi’s foster mom: Pi is a sweetheart, I wouldn’t recommend she go to a family with young (under 3) children. She talks and she is a bit food protective. We’ve found if she has food down in her dish and anyone comes in the kitchen she growls a bit. We’re working on getting rid of that, I don’t think she means anything by it, because the poodles can eat her food in front of her and she does nothing. She’s not that good on the leash, but she does like to play outside with the other dogs. She likes to play fetch and tug with a toy. She likes to talk to you and she makes an excellent vacuum. Big rawhides are a no no, and she will overeat. She does have a sensitive tummy so staying on the food she’s on is likely a good idea. She doesn’t get on the furniture, but she is going upstairs now and sleeping in the kids rooms. No reaction to the furry critters in the kids rooms. She does well with everyone who comes in the house. She likes to play outside and run, so I don’t think it would be fair to put her in an apartment . She was so good over the holidays, no getting into anything she shouldn’t . She is loose all the time, even when we aren’t home. I”ll attach some pictures, but she really doesn’t photograph well enough to show what a sweetie she is. I think if someone wanted to do some obedience that she would be good, or as a therapy dog as she stays fairly focused.

What kind of home we’d like for Pi: House with a FENCED yard to play freely in! No kids under 5yrs please. She can go to a home with or without another dog. An active person(s)/family who can get her out and loosing weight! A family looking or a fun pooch.
