Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sam's owner was evicted from their Bronx, NY home and Sam has been temporarily staying with another family member in Bartonsville, PA until he can find a new home. His current caregivers are not able to keep him long term but are big animal lovers and don't want to send him to a shelter. They have asked us to help find him a home.
He is 12 yrs old and is a very sweet old man. He is in very good health. He is not fixed but we will make sure that is taken care of before he goes to a new home. We will also make sure he is up to date on his shots. We're trying to retrieve his medical records but we may not be able to. No signs of arthritis.
He is fine with the other animals in his temporary home which are 2 small dogs and a cat.
He's completely housebroken. He is good on leash - no pulling or dragging. Sam would do great with a nice big yard. He's quickly learned to love it after leaving the Bronx. He just wanders around sniffing - even ignores the squirrel and deer. He likes to run around the yard playing, even just playing fetch. He LOVES to go on walks & will pick up his leash and "walk himself" - too cute! He is happy to just go out int he yard and actually comes knocking on the door when he's done!
He is wonderful and nothing much seems to bother him. He's a very loveable guy and just wants someone to give him attention. He loves to just be close to someone. Amanda, one of his caregivers, noted that if she had to say what his worst trait is - it's that he is very clingy (if you can call that bad trait!). He would be a wonderful companion for someone who is retired or is at home a lot.
He isn't crate trained and does get upset when separated in another room or something so a crate would be too stressful for him. He does have some anxiety when his primary care giver leaves, but he's not distructive - he whimpers a little and goes over and waits by the door until he gets bored. No barking - just whimpering.
He rarely ever barks unless you get him worked up when playing. He's spent time around kids and he's been fine. He does not like his feet being touched. He doesn't bite or nip or anything - but he makes it clear that he doesn't like it
Please contact Barbara if you are able to give Sam a home or would like more information. We are able to transport within a reasonable distance of PA. Transport available to Long Island, NY & surrounding areas as well.
