My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Murphy and I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am being fostered by two really nice people right now, but I'm ready to have a forever family of my own. I had a bad run-in with a car in May of 2010, but Doctor says I'm all healed up and can run and play with my friends.

Oh yeah, I’m about 3 years old. I prefer to say I’m 3 years young, but they say the correct way to state it is to use the word old. I’m about 34 lbs. (all the more to love :) and I don’t have a heavy coat like other dogs like me. I’M ONE OF A KIND.

I play great with other dogs and I love to play with people, too. Cats are fun to chase, so if you have one, odds are I’m going to chase it around the house. So, for all parties involved, it's probably a good idea if you don’t have any cats. On the other hand, I’m good with kids and really want someone to throw the ball for me. I will bring it back to you, I promise!

I’m potty trained and my foster mom leaves me out all day in the house, because she knows she can trust me. On occasion, she will have me go in my crate, and that’s okay. She is the BOSS! Well, at least I let her think she is. :) Sometimes, we go for car rides and I’m great in the car. I am enrolled in advanced beginner's obedience class, so when you adopt me you will be getting a well-behaved Sheltie!

I know I must sound too good to be true and if it were up to me, I’d say that is true, but I do have a few flaws. I would say nothing big or out of the ordinary for a Sheltie.

Okay, I bark on occasion. I usually bark at moving cars and trucks. If I’m outside, I bark if strangers come around. But hey, isn’t that my JOB?

One other thing, I need a home with a secure fenced area (wood or chainlink) to play in, and someone who will always use a leash with me when I'm not in a fenced area. I need to make sure I don’t get hit by any more cars. That was not a fun time, and I really don’t want to go through that surgery and stuff again.

Well, that just about wraps it up. I’ll just hang out with my foster moms, until I get the chance to meet you. TRUST ME, YOU WON”T BE SORRY! I AM A “KEEPER”! Best thing yet, I’m GOOD LOOKING!

Murphy is fostered in the Fargo, ND area.

For more information on our adoption process (which includes an application, references and a home visit prior to meeting dogs) or to see other Shelties available for adoption, please visit our website at www.mnsheltierescue.org, or contact us for the adoption application. Murphy's adoption fee is $300.00, and he is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), microchipped, had a dental cleaning and X-rays, has been bathed and brushed, etc. All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard, if the adopter is not at home).
