Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This sweet little girl was dumped at the shelter after she was attacked by a larger dog. I'm guessing the heartless owners didn't want to pay the vet bills?? She had to be shaved so her wounds could be treated, but she's healing nicely, her beautiful hair will grow back, and she will be good as new in no time. We will be posting current (and better) photos soon. The vet said Gidget is about 10-12 months old.
Here's what her foster mom says... "I love Gidget, she is a tiny wisp of a dog at only 7 pounds. She is so quiet that she can be hard to locate (but she can usually be found at your feet). She is so well-behaved. You do not even notice she is there, she just blends in so well (I need to put a bell on her). She is very friendly and snuggly. She gets along with everyone in my zoo... kids, cats, and dogs. She loves to ride in the car, and she walks great on a leash. She has a really stupid haircut right now; they tried to give her a poodle cut, but did a bad job (she will be absolutely gorgeous once her hair grows back). I gave her a bath, which she LOVED. She's been staying in my laundry room when I have to leave for awhile, but when I'm home she has free run of the house. No potty accidents so far. She is an awesome little dog. The people who gave her up are idiots."
The shelter is the last place any dog wants to be, but for Gidget it was a blessing in disguise. They treated all of her wounds, and now she has a chance to find the loving forever home she deserves, where she will be cherished and protected.
A word about "tear-staining:" As you can see from her photos, Gidget has some brown staining on her face. While this is common, and not harmful, it is not a bichon's normal appearance. It is primarily caused by diet. If a white dog eats foods or plays with chewies that are dark in color, or have red or brown dyes in them, that causes this type of staining. Simply eliminate the dyes and change their diet to light colored foods, such as chicken or lamb, and within a few months the staining should be gone.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked, current on vaccinations, microchipped, groomed, de-wormed, de-flea'd, and come with a collar, leash, ID tag, and puppy kisses from the lucky dog you take home!
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Gidget, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.
