My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sex: Male
Type: Burmese Cross - Lilac
Age Group: Adult
Date of Birth: January, 2007
Bonded Pair: Layla

BLIND CAT - This picture of Bruin is new - he had both eyes removed in Nov '09 and is fully recovered...he is doing amazing and everyone is so happy with how well he's done.

From Medicine Hat: Bruin endured a surgery that ended up with both of his eyes having to be removed as they were so badly damaged from untreated infection they could not be saved. It was a tough decision but after speaking with our veterinarian - she felt he already had been blind for months and had done well to that point, he was in good body condition and would recover well. Update March 2010: It's been four months since his surgery and Bruin has amazed every volunteer who has had the opportunity to spend time with him - not only has he adjusted to being fully blind but he's done it with strength and trust for humans(who didnt care for him before) that cannot even be put into proper words. Bruin knows his way around his foster home, sometimes following the lead of the other cats who are like his seeing eye cats (especially Layla)...he comes to the front of the bunch for his canned food, jumps up to his perch, uses the litter - all with the ease and grace of a cat who can see. He plays with the other cats, chasing them up and down the cat tower and all around the bedroom....for a cat who can't see, he sure doesn't act that way! Bruin must be adopted into a quiet home with other cats and a home that things are not moved around in often as he will learn his way around and stick to a routine. We would like to keep Layla and Bruin together but if the perfect home came along for Bruin with another cat(s), we would be willing to adopt him seperately - and follow his progress with the new owner very closely.
