Update 11/17/06
Sebastian has been in EBBRR’s care since March of 2006. He has had chronic skin issues and we just could not get to the root of them. We tried every dog food under the sun and eventually went to a raw food diet. He seemed to go through a cycle every 2-3 weeks with on and off again skin issues. We held off his adoption because of those skin issues, which we think we finally are on our way to controlling.
Sebastian then visited Dr. Negola of Negola’s Ark in Gaithursburg, Maryland. We decided to leave him there for 3 evenings so he could get round the clock care for his allergies. Sebastian really needed this. He was given medicated baths and steroid injections as well as antibiotics to knock the infection and inflammation out. We had more testing done on his liver, kidneys and also allergy shots for food and environmental allergies. We did more scrapes, just in case those pesky mange mites were hanging around. Luckily he was mite free.
Sebastian looks and feels great. He can finally enjoy a good night sleep…….

Sebastian is now 11 months old (11/06) and he is definitely growing up. He was 58lbs at his last weigh in. He is very pushy with other dogs and can easily get them on the defensive. He will only be adopted with a female resident dog and one that is compatible. He does love cats, and I mean love them! He has a crush on the male resident cat and even blushes sometimes! They are best buds and sleep together. Sebastian is housebroken and crate trained, but has free roam of a finished basement. He is on a steroid right now that causes him to urinate a lot more frequently and needs to be let out a lot more.
Sebastian loves everyone! He hasn’t met a stranger yet. He is very strong and I am looking for an owner with dog experience, preferably one with bully experience. Continuing training is a huge plus with me, as it’s a good energy outlet for the dog and its always a plus to have a well behaved dog. Sebastian has a medium energy level. He plays hard when he plays and then he sleeps just as hard when he is done. He enjoys his walks and he enjoys playing with his doggie playmates.
This may come offensive to some, but it is not meant that way. I am looking for a financially secure family that will have the resources to care for him in the event of more problems. He most definitely will require daily medication to keep him comfortable and regular check ups. He also needs a family that will understand on his bad days he can be a stinky mess of scabs. He might need a bath twice a week or he might need lotions put on. What I am trying to say is he is not going to be an easy keeper. He will need maintenance his whole life. This is very doable, it just involves a special owner or family that can incorporate a few extra steps every day to help Sebastian live pain and itch free.

The adoption process is as follows; email correspondence; application; phone interview; meet and greet; home visit and if all goes well an adoption! There will be a contract as well. Sebastian’s adoption fee is $250.00. His treatment to date has been over 2700.00. Please remember he will need continuing care.
