My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 2/5/2011: Elliott is a wonderful 2 year old 14 lb yorkie/silky boy who is being fostered in Davie, FL. He has recovered from his FHO hip surgery and is "looking for love".

Elliott is a "bigger" Yorkie. His hair is very soft with a little curl to it. We don't know a lot about his past, but he is a very adaptable little guy. He is very friendly and quite energetic. I would say he is about 99% house trained. He is VERY good about going outside, and other than some minor accidents is great in that department. Elliott has a very sweet disposition- he will run and play, and then he is happy to be a couch potato. He sometimes gets a little over-excited and jumpy when foster dad comes home (he is everybody's favorite, probably because he comes in bearing treats!), but it's being worked on. :) Elliott sleeps very well at night in the x-pen with his foster brothers and sisters.

So- honestly, what are his down sides? He does NOT like the cats. He barks at them and chases them whenever he sees them. Other than that, there really are no other negative traits. He has healed really well from his FHO surgery. He is using his leg well, and he can run faster than anyone else in the pack. He does not, however, realize he is a small dog, will bark at bigger dogs if he is behind a fence or on a leash away from them! He just needs his people to protect him from those desires! Elliott has been to the dog park and got along with all dogs, big and small. He gets along great with everybody in the foster home as well. He and Carson (Cairn terrier) play the most. Elliott likes to tug on Carson's ears. That's Ell in a nutshell! Isn't he great?

UPDATED BIO 12/20/2010: Elliott is a great little 2 year old 15 lb Silky who is being fostered in Davie, FL.

Elliott is recovering well from his surgery. He is slowly regaining the use of his rear leg, but it may never return to 100% before whatever injury caused him to need an FHO surgery. That doesn't mean that Elliott cannot run, jump and play like a puppy! He's a playful, active, friendly little fella. He loves all dogs he meets and doesn't bother cats (too much!). He is a 100% housetrained little fella and is just waiting to be your buddy! A home with a backyard and another playful dog is ideal for this little guy. He's the best of both worlds, a cute little guy in a size that's a more rough-and-tumble kind of dog. He's just perfect!!! Scoop this guy up before it's too late!

INITIAL BIO 11/19/2010: Elliott is a 2 year old 15 lb Silky boy who is being fostered in Davie, FL.

Elliott's luck changed the day he was found as a stray, covered in sticks, twigs, and matted fur. He walked with a limp, but he had the energy and playfulness of a puppy. In fact, Elliott may just be the perfect dog. He's playful, loving, friendly, and HOUSETRAINED! Elliott was saved by a local rescue, but they soon found that the limp was a result of an old injury (possibly hit by a car), and Elliott had a lot of arthritis in his hip. When they realized that the quality of Elliott's life would improve immensely with an FHO (surgery on his hip to clean out the arthritis), that rescue turned to UYR to cover this expensive surgery. Elliott's hip is being fixed at the time of this update, and he will be making his way to his foster home this weekend. We expect he will need a short time to recover, but he will likely be ready for adoption within a couple of weeks.

Please help in any way you can to help offset the cost of this surgery. Orthopedic surgery is always expensive, but we are always grateful to the wonderful vets who try so hard to give these homeless ones a break. Elliott would love a backyard with a fence and another playful furkid (or human kid) in his new family. Not sure about cats yet, but we'll let you know as FM has a couple. Thanks for reading about Elliott! Fill out the application if you think he's the little man in your life you've been waiting for!
