Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dexter is a beautiful 3 1/2 year old, red and white, red-nose pit bull mix; he currently weighs about 75lbs. He was found running through a busy intersection late at night in Sacramento. As soon as we stopped the car and called to him, Dexter came running right over to us, he was so excited to be off of the street and wanted to give kisses to everyone as he crawled from lap to lap on the trip home.
In the time he has been with us, we have found Dexter to be an absolute lover. He is still 100% puppy, he loves to run around the yard throwing his ball for himself, he enjoys rolling around on his back being silly and getting belly pets. He is very proud of his many toys and often likes to show them to everyone he meets. He is just starting to understand the game of catch and will bring the ball back if you can keep him focused but he also likes to play keep away if you let him. He has recently picked up frisbee which he seems to enjoy as well.
Dexter would do fine in a home with another small or medium sized dog; however he does not seem to understand that he is bigger than kitties and would therefore do best in a home without them. Because of his breed and personality, Dexter would do best in a home that is either experienced with his breed or willing to continue putting effort into training him, and a home with children over the age of 12.
Dexter has completed a beginners training course through Albree Dog Training, he is very food motivated and eager to please, but strong willed as most bully breeds tend to be.
Dexter is a happy and healthy boy that just needs a home to call his own. He is currently living at a boarding facility and because of that, may need additional work with potty training, but he has done well overall learning the routine and is also crate trained.
A home check is required prior to adoption. Renters must be able to provide a letter from their landlord permitting them to house a dog of this breed on the property.
