My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 10/22/2010: Macy is a sweetheart of a 9 year old 8.5 lb girlie who is being fostered in Punta Gorda, FL.

Now that Macy is all recovered from her surgery, she has made her way to her new foster home in Punta Gorda, FL. Macy is a darling little girl who was surrendered by her owners to a high kill shelter. She was dumped there with rotten teeth, a dental tumor, a mammary tumor, and in need of a spay. Both masses have been removed and were benign (not cancer!!)! Yeah!! She also had her teeth cleaned and had her spay. She has come through with flying colors!!!

Macy is a shy little girl. She does come to FM to be picked up and likes to sit next to her on the couch. She does not like loud noises, and would likely not enjoy a home with active children. She's friendly. FM has never seen her so much as growl at another dog or cat. She loves everybody she meets. Macy would love a patient, loving family that is willing to accept her shy nature and work with her to build confidence. Please consider giving Macy a second chance at a happy home! Thanks for reading about her. :)

UPDATED BIO 10/13/2010: Macy is a sweet 9 year old 8.5 lb girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL.

Macy has had her dental cleaning and extractions under anesthesia. She came through it like a champ. During Macy's pre-op workup, her bloodwork was fine (thank goodness) but she did have some urine crystals (no bladder stones though! yeah!). Thank goodness we got her in time and will make sure she never gets any painfu stones! She is now on a special Royal Canin diet (it's sold at regular pet food stores) and likes it a lot.

Macy is housetrained to go outside, and she gets along with other dogs. She's painfully shy, but she's coming around. It is so sad to think of what this poor girl has gone through. Macy will be having her second and final surgery on Monday 10/18. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!

INITIAL BIO 10/8/2010: Macy is an adorable 9 year old 8.8 lb precious girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL.

After 9 years of devotion to her owners, little Macy was dumped at a high kill shelter this past week by the very people she loved. She is a darling little princess and didn't deserve that fate. UYR stepped in and took sweet Macy in. Macy is a timid little girl, but she appears to get along with people and other dogs. (We haven't met any cats yet). She is 100% housetrained so far. Macy doesn't appear to know how to walk on a leash, and her FM will be working on that with her.

Macy is going to have a full medical evaluation including comprehensive bloodwork, a urinalysis, and then a dental cleaning under anesthesia where she will likely lose several teeth due to improper care. In addition, Macy will be spayed and have two small growths removed from her gums and her abdomen (we think possibly a very small mammary tumor that will require a painful surgery for poor Macy). Sadly, dogs that are not spayed early in life are prone to developing these mammary tumors which require complex surgery to remove... pretty much a mastectomy for dogs. They do, however, have an excellent prognosis once removed! We will make sure sweet Macy is given plenty of pain medication and lots of TLC to get her through this process and ready for her new life with loving, devoted FURever parents.

Thanks for reading about this little girl and wish her luck as she begins her journey to happiness!!
