Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Little Miss Ratso was found by a Good Samaritan couple in Kentucky. After not being able to find her family they turned to BREW Midwest to help find Ratso a wonderful forever family. This is what they have to say about her:
Ratso is a 1-year old female beagle. We don’t know how she got there, but we found her hiding behind a motel off an interstate highway in Kentucky. She had recently delivered a litter of pups, but we could not find them. When we approached her, she immediately came toward us, tail a’waggin. She allowed us to pick her up (actually, she almost jumped into our arms), and carry her around while we sought her family. She sat quietly for the 3-hour ride to our home.
Ratso is an extremely lovable, energetic dog with a fantastic disposition. She craves human contact. She loves to be touched…she especially likes being scratched right behind her long floppy ears. She gets along beautifully with our 2 male Labrador retrievers, in fact she does not seem to know that she is only ¼ their size. She is very curious. She has searched and sniffed every inch of our home, yard and car. She has not learned to play with toys.
After 2 weeks, Ratso responds to her name, is largely housebroken, and is beginning to master basic commands, e.g. sit, stay, come, OK (release command), off, leave it. She is leash tolerant and is beginning to respond to leash commands. She sleeps in her crate, which has become her safe place. She will go there and burrow into the blankets when she feels like being alone.
Ratso is a relatively quiet dog. She will occasionally bark when the local squirrels become too provocative. If something in the wind provokes our Labs, she will join in on the cacophony for a few seconds then settle down quickly. We believe Ratso would do best in a home were she would not be left alone more than 6 hours a day. Her forever family will love to adorn her with attention and activity. Having another 4-legged playmate would be great.
