Alex is small for a GSD, weighing in at around 50 pounds. He will still fill out a little more, but we do not expect him to get much bigger. So if you want the GSD look in a smaller package, Alex is your guy! He was taken through a basic obedience class and graduated. He is a very loving little guy once he trusts you.
What we have discoverd since Alex has been back with us is that he does feel very secure when he's around several other dogs. We do not have to crate him at all, even when nohumans are present, and he has not exhibited any destructive behavior whatsoever. So we recommend that Alex go to a home with multiple dogs (at least 3 or 4 besides himself) so he'll never have to be alone. He shared his previous home with one other dog, and this was not enough to reassure him. Alternatively, a home with a retired person/couple, or someone who is able to be home with him the majority of the time would be ideal.
Alex is utd on routine vaccinations, flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. He is neutered and has been microchipped. He is also fully housetrained, and has not had any accidents in the house since coming back to rescue.
