My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlie is a gorgeous Papillon with a gregarious personality. He wakes up every day literally jumping for joy. You just have to look at him to get his beautiful plume tail wagging like crazy. This dog is a pleasure to have around. He loves affection but doesn’t demand it; he gets along with other dogs after a brief period of shyness when he meets a new canine friend. He is not at all shy with people and welcomes the attention of everyone he meets.

Charlie has maintained a puppy-like desire to play. He will be six in December. He loves going out and about and is good in the car and on leash. He weighs 7-8 pounds. He is not a big barker but he does have some separation anxiety and cries when he feels left out, either when he is restricted from the room where his person is or when he is crated when his person goes out. He would love to be adopted by someone who will take him everywhere or who wants a constant companion around the house. Please do not apply to adopt Charlie if you go off to work every day and leave him behind alone. As with many Papillons, Charlie would not be content with just another dog buddy. Paps are a very people-oriented breed.

Please note that Charlie will not be adopted into a home with children under 8 or large dogs. His adopter must be willing to supervise every time Charlie is outside, as small dogs are regularly being killed by coyotes and hawks in areas where it would seem unthinkable.

If you may be interested in adopting Charlie, please email us at paprescuesocal@gmail.com for an adoption application. He will be neutered and have his teeth cleaned next week so he won’t be available to go to his forever home until the following week. In the meanwhile, we require a home visit to see where Charlie will live and make sure it is secure for a small dog.
