My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Great Big Beautiful Doll in search of Fitness Trainer!

Hate the exercise doldrums? Want a partner to walk with who won't wear you out? Studies show that pets needing to lose weight help US to slim down if we buddy up with them and double our efforts!! Myrtle is the answer! No point counting, no carb counting - just good old fashioned exercise - LOL.

Myrtle is new to our rescue and she is just a roly-poly little girl who definitely thinks food is her friend! We think that she is a doll - very sweet, rides very well in the car and she walks well on a leash too. She loves to just hang out and have the occasional belly rub. She's calm, not a barker and loves everyone. She's big on smooching too! Myrtle needs to lose several pounds though as her former owner nearly killed her with kindness! She is up to date on her vaccinations, she's spayed and the treating vet in West Virginia (from where this girl traveled) said that other than a bit too much wiggle in her jiggle she looked perfectly healthy to him. She currently is at home with foster mom and siblings and we hear she is on a diet of low fat food and raw fruits and veggies to gain back her girlish figure.

If you're in search of a dog with potential who will unleash YOUR potential, please inquire about Myrtle - she's approx 5 years young at heart and with plenty of time left to spare this girl is looking for someone to get physical with!

UPDATE: We here at CBR-East learned this week that as we suspected, our little adoptee Myrtle has some serious health issues. When we first picked her up we were told she had been dumped by her former owner because she was heartworm positive. Myrtle has an enlarged heart and she also has pulmonary issues resulting from heartworm disease that was left untreated
for far too long. She is no longer heartworm positive but the damage to her heart cannot be reversed. Myrtle is currently being monitored by our veterinarians and is taking Lasix and an antibiotic to help get the fluid around her heart to subside.

Myrtle is just the sweetest, warmest, most lovable and gentle soul - we can't imagine how anyone could treat her so unkindly but here we are with a dilemma - we know that it is going to take a VERY VERY special adopter to open their home to her. She is obviously not a full bred beagle - she is a mixture of beagle and collie (her coat is long and silky). Myrtle is older than we were led to believe - she's actually closer to 11 and we believe Myrtle has several good years left. What we hope to find is someone to help her live out her Golden Years with dignity and a level of caring she has not had in years.

If you can contribute to her health costs that would be most appreciated. If you could provide a home for her of course that is our goal (and Myrtle's) but if it isn't meant to be then Myrtle's foster mom will provide that spot in her family for her for as long as Myrtle will have us!

Myrtle just had a girl's day out too - a bath, nailclipping and she looks just lovely - bet you'll agree looking at her photo!
