My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Myra and I am a very sweet, gentle Rat Terrier who would love to be a couch warmer in your home today! I am a special needs dog because I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune muscle disease. My disease went untreated for over a year because my family fell on hard times when they both lost their jobs. I became weaker and weaker and finally my family was so desperate they decided to put me to sleep. The veterinarian I was taken to saw the brightness of my spirit and offered to adopt me from my family and continue my treatment. Since then, I have been living with three other dogs while I recuperate and build up my strength through swim therapy. I am very loyal and even though I am weak I will follow you wherever you go. I like to sit in your lap and lay at your feet. I am a good watchdog and will greet you home with squeaks and silly howls! My medical condition requires me to stay on steroids and therefore I will require visits to the vet at least 2 times per year. I am spayed, fully vaccinated, and just had my teeth cleaned! I am 5 years old and have a lot of love to give! I am not as frail as I look - though small kids, puppies, and other rambunctious dogs can knock me down easily. I climb up and down stairs without much trouble and am 100% potty trained to perfection.

Note: This is a Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) Program dog, meaning he/she has been fortunate enough to remain in his/her current home while looking for a new home. Veterinary records have been verified, but we must rely on input from the owner for information on behavior and temperament.
