My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elsie is a six year old Rat Terrier and weighs around 12 pounds. She loves going on walks and playing fetch. She loves to burrow under blankets when she sleeps on a pillow on the floor. She knows basic commands such as sit, wait, down, leave it and can also shake with both hands (shake and left). She is housetrained. She goes in her crate when her owners are gone. She has been going through training with a one-one trainer to work on the pulling she had during walks, her barking at dogs in the house and the aggression she shows towards other dogs she saw on walks. (This training is transferable to new owners.) She has made a lot of progress. She doesn’t look outside very often anymore and stops barking very quickly. She is able to walk more calmly when outside and settles down much sooner after getting excited by other dogs. She did attack a female cairn terrier that she was staying with and also bit the person who broke up the fight. She is fine around children but she should be in a household without young children because of the aggression she shows to other dogs.

Note: This is a Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) Program dog, meaning he/she has been fortunate enough to remain in his/her current home while looking for a new home. Veterinary records have been verified, but we must rely on input from the owner for information on behavior and temperament.
