Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sassafras is a female tan with white Basset Hound mix puppy. She is 14 weeks old (DOB 1/8/25) and she weighs about 16 pounds. Sassafras has had three sets of puppy vaccines and deworming. She is ready for adoption.

Sassafras is a puppy of Bella, a beautiful white and red purebred Basset Hound weighing about 45 lbs, and Bella’s friend, a hound mix of similar size. Sassafras is a smart, spunky young lady. She has been making friends outside her litter now that brothers have both been adopted. Sassy has a submissive play style when trying to engage a new friend in play. She is working on potty and kennel training and is making progress. Sassy has also learned to play by herself at times and enjoys various kinds of toys. She also loves a good cuddle after she has played hard and is feeling restful.

The adopter will be responsible for completing the appropriate vaccinations and starting the puppy on heartworm preventive. The adopter must spay the puppy by 6 months of age at their own expense and provide documentation to the rescue.

We require all potential adopters to submit an application. We only accept applications for a specific dog you are interested in adopting. We do not keep waiting lists or files of general applications for dogs we might get later. The online application can be found at this location:

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet.

We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
