Popcorn is a 10-pound Chihuahua with a big heart and a soft spot for cats. At first glance, you'll notice how adorable he is – but this little guy is more than just a cute face. Popcorn is looking for a patient, experienced home that understands the unique needs of a senior pup who’s had to figure life out on his own terms.
Popcorn has cataracts and limited vision, so he startles easily – especially if he's woken up abruptly. For this reason, he’s not a fit for homes with children or a home that has many visitors and will need a calm, quiet environment where he can feel safe. Once he trusts you (and that might take some time – think weeks or even months), he’ll allow gentle pets and might even sneak in a snuggle on his terms.
He’s very food-motivated, which helps with building trust, but he’s also protective of his meals and treats, so he must be fed separately from other pets. Popcorn loves cats and would absolutely thrive in a feline-friendly home. He’s cautious with dogs but can coexist peacefully after a respectful introduction.
Popcorn isn’t a social butterfly, but he does fine when visitors come over – as long as they don’t try to engage with him directly. His ideal adopter will be someone who respects his boundaries, moves at his pace, and is okay with earning his love slowly but surely.
