Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Max: Longing for Love in his Golden Years
Max got lucky 11 years ago. On a hot July morning, the starving pup was found lying in the grass under a fire hydrant--nothing but ribs, mats and fleas.
This poor boy weighed only 24 pounds, when he should have weighed close to 60! Who knows how much longer he would have survived if not for the kindness of the good Samaritan who saved his life.
It was that same good Samaritan who adopted Max and gave him a loving home for 11 years.
But Max’s luck has changed again. His father has a new family and new priorities. And when Max developed separation anxiety that couldn’t instantly be “fixed,” he was left chained in the yard, day after day, with plans to put Max to sleep rather than invest the time and money needed to help Max through his issues.
But when another family member stepped in and spoke up for this sweet old dog, who wanted only to be near the people he loved, Max’s life was spared. Today, he waits in his foster home, wondering why he’s been deserted by the family he loves. But with every day that passes, Max is learning to love those who now love him, and wants nothing more than to live out his golden years in peace, and with the joy he so richly deserves.
About our Max:
• 12-year-old collie-chow; ~65 pounds; has all shots; neutered; in good health with some arthritis that responds well to medication.
• Loves other dogs; good with cats too! Likes older children and all adults.
• Sweet, gentle & well-mannered. Max can be left alone for short periods, but needs someone who is usually home, or who can take Max along. Our trainer will help Max adjust to his new home, and work with his new family on his separation issues.
