My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Storm von Selbitz is a stunning 4 year-old sable German Shepherd. A larger female with an especially striking black sable coat, Storm is for you true sable aficionados. She looks like an expensive import! Smart and attentive, she's an affectionate sweetheart who just wants to love and be loved. She likes being petted all over and will soak up your attention. Storm knows her basic commands like sit, down and paw, and she's motivated to learn more. She walks beautifully on leash, staying calm and composed while walking right by your side. Eager to please, she's often checking in with her person and readily following directions. She walks well around other dogs, but isn’t overly interested—she’s more focused on her people. In play groups Storm is a low key presence—she mingles politely in a supervised setting, tolerating other dogs and content to do her own thing. Storm is house-trained, treat-motivated, and ready to be someone’s loyal, loving companion. She’s also had a good cat test. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who thrives on affection and ready for anything you want to do, Storm may be the perfect match for you! She was relinquished to an animal shelter by a breeder who had too many dogs. Don’t miss out on spectacular Storm!

Rescued from the Palmdale animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
