My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Knox von Kesten is 8-9 months and is a smaller-sized pup still with a little growing to do, as well he has a big heart and a gentle spirit. He walks beautifully on leash, staying close by your side and greeting people with a happy tail. He’s well-mannered around other dogs and enjoys calm, easy strolls. Knox is affectionate and loves being near his people—whether you’re relaxing at home or out and about, he’ll happily be by your side. He’s known for giving sweet kisses and has the cutest little tail that’s always wagging. Smart and eager to please, Knox already knows how to sit and picks up on things quickly. In group play, Knox is polite and calm. He prefers to explore the yard gently and greets other dogs nicely. He prefers human company and doesn’t seek out play, but he coexists peacefully and respectfully. Knox would thrive in a loving home where he can be close to his people and enjoy a quiet, comfortable life. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion, Knox could be the perfect match for you.

Rescued from the Inland Valley animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
