Hi there! My name is Nugget, and I’m a charming orange boy who just turned 1 year old. I may be a bit shy when you first meet me, but don’t let that fool you—I’m super friendly once I get to know you! While I’m not the biggest fan of being held, I absolutely adore gentle pets and scratches. You’ll often find me rubbing against your legs, asking for some affection in my own special way. I love to play, whether that means chasing after a toy you’re dangling on a stick or batting at balls all by myself. I promise to keep you entertained with my playful spirit! My voice is a soft one; my meows come out more like adorable low chirps, so I’ll keep the noise level down in our cozy home. One thing to note is that I can be a little timid around dogs, but I will warm up to and play with a cat-friendly dog. If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, playful, and lovable furball into your life, then I would love to meet you! Let’s create some beautiful memories together! Some animals shown are rehoming courtesy posts for the current owners, and other animals are available for adoption through Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs).

All animals in the care of FRAs have their annual vaccinations, sterilization, FeLV/FIV test for cats, and a microchip. You must sign an adoption contract when adopting a pet through FRAs.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FRAs was founded in 2004 by 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter. Our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers, and with this growth, we now support two municipal shelters -- Rowlett, TX and Garland, TX – and operate our own cat rescue program.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home. We are a 100% all volunteer run organization, and our ability to help homeless animals depends on donations from the community and grant funding.

Our organizational programs include operating the volunteer program for both shelters, providing funding for heartworm treatments and emergency medical care, accepting cats from the shelter and citizens into our foster-based cat rescue, supporting TNR/SNR efforts for community cats and most recently funding dog transport initiatives. Our volunteers spend thousands of hours socializing and marketing the animals for adoption, which increases the number of animals with a positive outcome. FRAs has helped countless pets avoid euthanasia, find their forever homes and live longer, healthier lives.
