My name is Mella!

Mella is a 2-year-old Female Tabby with a big personality and an even bigger heart once she feels safe. She’s incredibly cuddly and affectionate once she’s comfortable, but she’s also very sensitive and needs time to trust. Mella doesn’t like being touched past her head, and she may show defensive behavior when she feels overwhelmed or scared — a result of her rough start in life.

She was previously kept outside and not properly cared for by her last owner, which has left her a bit guarded. Since being spayed recently, we’re hopeful she’ll continue to settle and open up, but I unfortunately no longer have the time or the right environment to give her what she needs — especially after she recently lashed out in fear and harmed someone close to me and other pets in my home.

Mella would thrive best in a calm, patient home without other cats, though she is dog-friendly and has done well with pups. She needs someone who understands her boundaries and is willing to give her the time.
