Ladybug is a 2 mth old St. Bernard and Husky mix with a whole lot of love (and fluff!) to give. This sweet girl will grow into a large breed—likely somewhere between 60 to 120 pounds (depending on how much of the St Bernard DNA she takes on) —so she’s looking for a home ready for big adventures and even bigger cuddles.

She’s a stunning white pup with brown/red patches, one white and one brown ear, and a charming, white-tipped tail. But her real showstopper? Those deep brown puppy eyes that will absolutely melt your heart.

From the moment she arrived in her foster home, the name “Ladybug” just fit—playful, confident, and covered in spots! She’s a little bundle of personality who keeps us smiling with her silly antics.

Ladybug was found at just 6 weeks old wandering alone in northern Manitoba—no littermates, no mama, just sheer puppy grit. Despite her rough start, she was only slightly dehydrated and otherwise in good health. Her vet checkup went smoothly, with no concerns—she’s a strong, healthy girl with a bright future ahead. She came to us to have a better chance at a wonderful life.

Ladybug’s ideal home is with someone ready to embrace the joys and challenges of raising a puppy. She’s already showing signs of being a quick learner: sleeping well in her crate overnight and when we are not home, mostly entering on command, and eating her meals in there like a champ. She’ll whine a little if she needs out but otherwise settles in easily.

Ladybug loves her morning romps around the yard with her foster brother as much as she enjoys her walks. She’s learning how to be on a leash, however mostly she ventures the backyard rather than walks around the block at this point. Typically, she can be found playing with her foster brother or chewing on toys or anything she can find – shoes, boots, socks, mittens, and our feet and pant legs! We are working on training her to not use her teeth so much with her human and dog companions and she has shown great improvement in that area. Ladybug LOVES toys, any toy she finds is her new favourite. She will gather all the toys to the dog bed in the middle of the kitchen kindly tidying up the house for us! It is adorable to see every single toy in a pile and her napping on top of all of them. She’s still learning to distinguish between toys and non-toys, a training area that will need continued attention, especially as she begins losing her baby teeth. Ladybug needs vigilant supervision to remind her what’s off-limits for chewing.

This little puppy loves people! She’s met numerous new faces and loves them all. Whether she spots them on the sidewalk, at the local pet shop, or they come for a visit, she’s all wiggles, tail wags, and face kisses. She’s interacted with our nieces and nephews, was playful and friendly, however should go to a household with older children, 10yrs plus, as she is still learning not to play bite and those puppy nips are only going to get stronger as she grows. She enjoys the company of other dogs but may be a bit overeager in her attempts to play, so a home with friendly, well-mannered dogs would suit her best. She plays well with our large doodle and is learning manners for play and interactions from him. She is a confident and dominant female puppy so a home with a submissive male dog would be great, but no female dogs in the home for Ladybug please, she wants to be the only queen in the castle. Ladybug knows “sit” and “down,” and is doing well with house training. She’ll wait by the back door and give a little whine when she needs out, though she still needs close attention to avoid accidents.

Anyone interested in Ladybug needs to live within one hour of Cambridge, Ont as she must be returned to our vet at six months of age to be spayed. She will be adopted out on a contract that stipulates this, and it is mandatory. This is covered in the adoption fee.

We will only consider a home for Ladybug where someone is home or has the capabilities to come home throughout the day. Puppies need to be taken outside for bathroom breaks very regularly when they are small and will not be able to hold it for an 8hr workday. Please keep in mind that if you work from home you need to have a plan in place for a crating schedule for the pup as puppies need 100% of your supervision when not in their crates; you cannot expect to work and have the puppy running around in the room with you as they won’t have your full attention. We are also looking for her family to be fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved. Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly. They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house-training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate. We are also looking for a family that will continue to crate train Ladybug as we fully believe that this is the best for pups and offers them a quiet and secure “den” to call their own. A crate trained pup is a blessing as it offers a safe place to put them when you can’t be watching them all the time.

Part of our adoption process here at Pound Dog Rescue we expect a basic obedience class, however for Ladybug we are looking for a family who is committed to taking her through advanced levels of obedience to help her become the best dog that she can be. She is going to be a big girl and she has a very confident personality so we need her people to be able to effectively train and work her smart mind. We are looking for someone who has previous working breed or giant breed experience and she would not be suitable to first time dog owners.

Anyone interested in her also needs to be aware that she will be a heavy shedder and will need regular brushing and a couple trips a year to a professional groomer to blow out her coat and keep her tidy. Both St Bernard’s and Husky’s shed a lot so if you are fastidious about your home being free of fur tumbleweeds then this isnt the breed mix for you.
