My name is BAILEY (SRC#1890) and I am ADOPTED!! My new home is in Cary, NC and my adoptive parents adore me! I also have a big brother who was also adopted from SRC. We make quite the handsome pair! His name is Luther (1031). My mom, Sharon and my dad, Norman are amazing with my breed! I could not ask for a better home!
Before my adoption I was being fostered in Wilmington, NC. I am about 2 years old and I weigh approximately 76 pounds. My coat has grown out over the winter and I will be getting another grooming within the next week. With snow at the beach, this extra hair has felt good when I play outside! The beginning of my life was a very difficult one. I spent much of my time tied outside -- up to 18 hours a day and when I was finally injured badly I ended up at a local Humane Society. My injury was one to my hind quarter which became infected and required serious vet care for some time yet it has healed beautifully. SRC was never told exactly what happened to me yet it had to be horrific. When they were contacted, they came to my rescue immediately yet I ended up with someone else at first. Sometimes Breed Rescues have to take a back seat to walk in adoptions, but SRC stood by in case that did not work out and when it did not, SRC was there again to help immediately. I am so fortunate that they were because I have gotten great care ever since. My foster home has given me fantastic care and my wound was healing well, yet something just did not seem just right. The vet had examined me but still no one knew I was pregnant for sure. It’s possible I carried my babies in my ribcage for protection due to my uncertain circumstances. No one suspected what even I was not certain of and then on Tuesday, August 1 I gave birth to three beautiful little healthy baby boys! Suddenly I was a fantastic first time mommy and my babies did great and I mothered them until they were 12 weeks old and ready for adoption. They were the lights of my life and I had lots of milk to feed them despite the fact that I had not been well. Motherhood was such a joy for me, yet when my baby boys were adopted I needed some time to rest and be the “baby” that I was never allowed to be before. My life had been so hard that SRC gave me a respite that I needed desperately. Now I am finally ready to go to a loving permanent home of my own. Not too long ago I was spayed and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time settling in. My foster mom showed me how wonderful life really can be so now I am living life large and can share that joy with my permanent adoptive family! Until I came to live with my loving foster mom, I did not realize that I was able and even allowed to PLAY so now she and I play every day! How could life possibly be better than that? The only way my life could improve would be to know that I will be in a permanent loving home so SRC will make certain it is one that meets all my needs and desires!
I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, was spayed in November, 2017 and heart-worm negative. I have been evaluated by my foster mom since last August, 2017. She has already gone through SRC's approval process and adopted other Giants from SRC. She is very experienced with my breed and has other Giants too. There is a Giant male in my foster family who played a great role model for my little babies and we get along just great. Lots of neighbors came over to play with me and my babies too, so we all got lots of socialization. I made certain that my baby boys got everything that I did not when I was growing up! Now I am ready to retirement as a parent and have a loving adoptive home of my own. If anyone deserves a great adoptive home I do! If you are the person to give that to me, apply to adopt me NOW.
(SRC#1890) BAILEY'S STORY
BAILEY with this unique identification number: (SRC#1890) came into our custody and care in mid-July 2017. She was originally coming in June but was adopted elsewhere. That adoption did not work out because it became inconvenient for her to stay when her owner needed to go out of town. SRC was honored to help Bailey due to the trauma she had suffered and we knew she would need special care to help her recover and to build her esteem once again. Little did we realize she was also going to need help raising a family, yet we are here for whatever this girl needs! Three precious pups were born the first of August and were available for adoption after they were minimum of 12 weeks old. They did NOT have docked tails or cropped ears. SRC does not want to see these babies suffer and allowed them to keep natural tails and ears. Their puppy time was full of fun, love and learning not recovery. Once they were adopted, Bailey got time to rest and enjoy life for a while. She was spayed and now she is ready for adoption since her spay is completed and healed. Her wound has also healed beautifully – Bailey will be a wonderful addition to any active Giant Schnauzer experienced family. You should have experience with this breed in order to apply to adopt her. Bailey is crate trained, house broken, knows basic commands. She is still young and gets excited, and sometimes a little over-zealous but will quickly calm down when told to (in the house). In the yard she loves to chase birds, butterflies, deer and rabbits. She does not seem to need to jump the fence even though she could easily do so. She is kind to people and kisses you if you let her.
She will greet you with a smile and a hug every day. Bailey is a joyful happy girl who will make you laugh. She holds no grudges from her early life and is looking forward to the next chapter of this adventure.
Now ready for adoption BAILEY is heart-worm negative, de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date, spayed, micro-chipped, examined fully by an SRC vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release is left to the discretion of the SRC Core Team.

All SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. We are prepared to assure that our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary.
SRC’s dogs are placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, and VA until they are adopted and these states are our approved adoption areas. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt it. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio.
BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt. You may request an Adoption Application to email address: adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org

SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children.
