My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BELLE (1814) HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!

I am micro-chipped, am heart-worm Negative, have all my vaccinations, received a thorough dental. I had already been  spayed and have been evaluated for more than 2 weeks by my foster family who have undergone the SRC approval process and reside in Blowing Rock, NC.  I was shy and  now have warmed up well to my foster family especially my foster dad -- our walks are great fun yet I  am doing very well to leash training.

(SRC#1814) BELL's Story

BELL with this unique identification number: (SRC#1814)   came into our custody   and  care this summer.  Now vetted this dog  is being prepared for adoption by a foster family who has gone thru our approval process and she is  responding very well .

Bell (1814) had Grade 4 Dental which helped her life expectancy considerably. Although she had already been spayed SRC addresses all their needs and Bell was in need of a thorough dental.   This healed her infection that was in her mouth with no permanent damage so now Bell has  the opportunity to enjoy a long and healthy life.  We got her just in time because our vet said if this had been left to do damage she could have eventually begun to  show some bone loss in her jaw  and without medical care that might have caused problems.  Fortunately the SRC vet  caught it early and she is now healed with no issues!  She eats well just like any canine does. SRC is so grateful we were able to rescue her because she is such a sweetheart.  Here is what her foster mom had to say about her after only a couple of days:

"Bell is coming right along! When I cook she sniffs the air expectantly and I share a bit with her.  She's not in my lap as of yet, but she is becoming more used to us, even coming to shyly sniff us a bit. She does extremely well with our two. Lots of running around the yard from front to back, good potty habits. Able to get her meds in her with Paul's help. Cleaned her eyes. Shes eating well twice a day, and ate her post dinner dentastix with the others. Given time Im sure she'll just do better and better. She's made her place on the dog bed behind Paul's chair but comes on and out with the others. Breaks my heart to think what was done to her to make her so afraid of people."

Now that Bell has been in her foster home for a few weeks she is really beginning to flourish.  Her mouth is healed and she is enjoying her foster siblings!  They play in the yard and she chills out in the house enjoying the company of her foster parents.  Bell LOVES children and is so gentle with them.  It is obvious that she is coming out of her shell and will make a wonderful family companion for a loving and patient family!

Hello and good afternoon,
First of all I would like to apologize for the late response to Bell's email. Also this is just my observation from working directly with her. I am the pet care coordinator for our boarding facility. The first time I met Bell she was extremely timid, scared and would not come out of her crate until we left. Bell slowly warmed up to us enough over the course of a week to come out of her crate when we approached her run and to stay out if we did not make direct eye contact. Bell loved when Clementine would spend time with her in her run. They even went out to potty in the yard together numerous time, and even though she was not fond of us being out there with her Bell had marked improvement over the course of the week where she would become less timid and scared of us. Bell still does not like for us to pick her up and does try to run if we get too close but after a short distance away she will stop and look at us. Overall she is a sweet dog and has never attempted to bite even though she was scared. She is attached to Clementine so I would say if possible a canine friend would be good for her. With time, love, patience, and lots of treats I believe Bell will make a good companion for a quiet home.
Sincerely,
Desiree
