Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sarro von Saffig is a beautiful 3 year old red and black German Shepherd. Sarro was an integral part of a family, but unfortunately, they lost their housing. He loved the family outings and was always great meeting other dogs. He knows commands: sit, paw, down, turn around, speak; he is bi-lingual, Spanish and English. He loved to go backpacking and really enjoyed carrying his own pack. He was okay with anything, even getting dressed up for Christmas in his special sweater. His birthday is 8/26/21, he is clearly from a top notch breeder. Our amazing guy is at the rescue, waiting for his next family to love and to cherish.
Owner surrender because family was moving.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
