Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cujo: A Sweet Chihuahua Looking for a Loving Home
Meet Cujo, a charming 2-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua who has had quite the journey. Rescued from a high-risk situation at a kill shelter by Barking Mad Animal Rescue, Cujo is now looking for his forever home where he can thrive and be a loyal companion.
Cujo's Wonderful Qualities
Cujo is a heartworm-negative, fully vetted, and healthy little dog. He has mastered the art of being a house-trained pet and walks well on a leash. Additionally, Cujo is crate-trained, although he prefers not to be in too small a space. He is treat-motivated, making him easy to train and eager to please. In our care, Cujo has shown himself to be a very happy and affectionate little fellow.
Important Considerations for Cujo's New Home
While Cujo is a delightful companion, there are a few considerations to ensure he is placed in the best environment possible:
Barrier Aggression: Shelter staff noted that Cujo can exhibit barrier aggression when confined to a too-small crate. It's important to provide him with a comfortable, adequately sized living space. BUT we haven't had any barrier aggression...he just wants you to come get him and jumps right into your arms. He chases his tail in his crate which may have been misconstrued by shelter personnel. But here at the rescue....none of that is true.
Reported as Nippy When Scared: Cujo may become nippy when frightened. Therefore, we recommend a home without small children to ensure a calm and gentle atmosphere for him.
HOWEVER...we have not found him to be nippy at all. Quite the opposite! He is funny and affectionate...so much fun! We have to put shelter information on here....but in rescue he is not nippy and way loads of fun...very affectionate.
Building Trust: Once Cujo trusts you, he is incredibly friendly and affectionate. We have not witnessed any nippy behavior from him, but it's important to be aware of his potential reactions in order to provide a supportive environment.
Why Choose Cujo?
Cujo is a great friend and companion, ready to bring joy and love to a home where he feels safe and cared for. If you are looking for a happy, treat-loving, and loyal friend, Cujo might be the perfect addition to your family. We are seeking a gentle adopter who will provide him with patience, understanding, and a loving home without small children.
If you're interested in adopting Cujo and giving him the loving home he deserves, please contact Barking Mad Animal Rescue to learn more about this lovable little dog. Let's help Cujo find his forever family!
