My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tere – A Sweet, Playful Soul Looking for Her Forever Home
Tere is a 3-year-old, 39lb Beagle/Dachshund mix (with maybe a bit of Basset Hound in her too!) who has come such a long way since arriving from Mexico. She’s learning to navigate her new world and is blossoming more every day.

This lovely girl enjoys the simple things in life – a cozy dog bed, a comfy spot on the couch, playtime with her ball, and a good walk where her nose gets to lead the way. She absolutely adores attention and affection, and you’ll see in her beautiful, soulful eyes just how thankful she is.

Personality & Training:
Tere is currently working on building her confidence, especially on leash. Street noises and new people or dogs outside can be a bit overwhelming for her. To support her, she’s been working with a trainer and has a dog walker to help show her that leash time can be fun—not scary.
She’s food-motivated, and when it comes to meals, she does best being fed separately from other dogs (which is a good practice in general). She's made amazing progress and continues to thrive with routine, patience, and positive reinforcement. TERE is very well behaved when left alone and is satisfied with a few toys to keep her company.

Tere would benefit from continued gentle training and structure. She gets along well with other dogs and would do great either as a solo dog or with a calm, friendly dog companion.

Exercise & Daily Life:
Tere enjoys her daily walks and is making progress with her leash skills. She’d thrive with an adopter who’s active and patient, or even with the support of a dog walker.. She’s on a bit of a health journey too—already losing 4lbs with more progress to come!

Tere’s Dream Home:
In a dream world, Tere would have a well adjusted dog sibling to show her the ropes—but that’s not a must. She would be just as happy as an only dog soaking up all the love. She’s full of heart, eager to please, and ready to bring joy to a home that can offer her patience, love, and a bit of structure.

Ready to Meet Tere?
If you’ve got a fenced yard, a quiet home, and a heart ready to help her continue to shine—Tere might just be your perfect match.

TERE is being fostered in Waterloo.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
