My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mango, Bella, and Zoey -- the sweetest ferrets around! These sweet babies are more than ready to become your new besties. They were surrendered after their owner could no longer care for them. They were quite underweight and not feeling their best when they first came under our care, but are thriving now after gaining weight and getting the care they need from their amazing caretaker.

Bella and Zoey are sisters, they are about 6 and a half years old. Bella is mostly white with some brown on her, and Zoey is more brown with the traditional bandit face markings. Mango is their adopted younger brother, and he's fluffy, soft, and a gorgeous brown and white color. He's the most playful of the bunch and will happily show off his dancing skills for you.

These sweet babies love toys and being let out of their enclosure for playtime. They like ball pits, tunnels, and anything else you can dream up! They're very friendly and have never bit or been aggressive. They love to roam and explore, and are really just the perfect ferrets.

Zoey has an adrenal implant, and will need a supplement every six months to keep her healthy. We are happy to facilitate this.

The trio must be adopted together outside of NYC (please provide your outside of NYC address upon applying for them). Please email adoptions@bbawc.org to schedule a meeting.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
