My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB: 30 January 2020
Microchipped

Polar is a very sweet and beautiful boy looking for a home where he can finally feel safe and loved!

He is heterochromic which means his eyes are two different colors (one blue and one green) and he came to Toronto Cat Rescue as a stray who needed some TLC! He had mats in his fur, so he's looking a little bit patchy right now, but not to worry, his lovely white coat will grow in as good as new! Being brushed is one of his favourite things, so from now on his fur will be easy to maintain. Along with brushing he absolutely loves having his head scratched, and will give you a little tap on your hand to let you know he wants more. He’s really learning to communicate and he will meow when he’s hungry or wants your attention.

Polar is still learning to trust people, but overall he’s a very affectionate and cuddly cat. He'll happily receive pets for as long as you’ll give them, and he likes to curl up next to his human or on their lap. He would do well in a home where he can socialize with people, follow his owner(s) around, and receive the love and attention he craves throughout the day.

Typically he will stay out in the open but things like loud noises and sudden movements scare him into hiding. For this reason he may not be the best fit for a home with small children as of now. He would thrive in an environment that is on the quieter side, but where he can still spend time with his people and get a little bit of play time in. He is super well behaved and his docile, gentle personality will win hearts!

Polar also has a potentially chronic upper respiratory infection (URI) with his main symptom being mild congestion. To help with his immune system, Polar can take Probiotics and l-lysine, both of which can be found at most pet stores. The l-lysine is chewable and probiotics come as a powder that can be sprinkled over his food. Antibiotics may be also be prescribed by your vet to possibly treat the URI. With proper management, Polar will live a comfortable, happy life!

Polar will require routine bloodwork at the end of April to ensure that he is still healthy and stable.
