My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh What a Night… to Fall in Love with Me!
Hi, I’m December, 1963—but you can call me Deci, or just “that gorgeous white cat with the soulful eyes.”

I’m about a year and a half old, and if you're looking for sweet? You’ve found the sweetest of them all. I came here with a big group of cats from a home that had a little too much love to go around. My people had to say goodbye, but I’m hoping that just means I’m one step closer to finding the person who’ll never let me go.

I’ve been around cats my whole life, so I totally get the roommate thing. I’m playful, easygoing, and oh-so-snuggly. I adore treats (just try opening a bag without me showing up), and I go wild for catnip. But my favorite thing? Being close to you. Whether we’re playing, cuddling, or you’re just telling me about your day—I’m all ears. (And fur. So much glorious, snowy fur.)

And my eyes? People say they’re orange with little flecks of blue, like a sunrise after a storm. But hey—I don’t need fancy eyes to see how amazing you are. I’m just here, ready to love and be loved.

Come meet me. Let’s make it a night to remember. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
