My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tigger Warning: May Look Mad, Is Actually Just Nervous and Sweet
Hi, I’m Tigger. Yes, short for Tigger Warning—which sounds intense, but I promise I’m not. I just have one of those faces.

I’m about two years old, a big ol’ orange-and-white boy with a serious expression and a marshmallow heart. I came from a home with a lot of other cats, and like my buddies, I’m still trying to figure out this whole "new world" thing. Everything is loud and strange, and honestly? I’m a little freaked out.

In my pictures, I know—I look like I might file a formal complaint. But I’m not mad. I’m scared. And I’m doing my best to be brave, even if that just means staying still and trying to blend in.

The truth is, I’m really sweet. I love gentle pets, I perk up when the wet food comes out, and I’ve got this quiet, soulful way about me. I’m the kind of cat who’ll bond deeply once I trust you—who’ll be your quiet companion, your big warm buddy on the couch.

I’m the biggest of my group (about 11 pounds of soft), and I think I’ve got the biggest heart, too. I just need a little patience, a lot of love, and maybe a spot by the window to watch the world from a safe distance.

Come meet me. I may not bounce like my namesake, but I am worth sticking around for.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
