DeMarco arrived at Longmeadow as an owner surrender at the start of 2025. After completing his quarantine period, he was moved to our larger barns and evaluated by our trainers.
While DeMarco is a gentleman when it comes to grooming, picking his feet, and standing quietly during tacking up, he made it clear to our trainers that he prefers a more relaxed lifestyle. This older gelding would much rather be a pasture pet or enjoy leisurely walks on a lead line. His age shows under saddle, and he lacks a finely-tuned braking system. He’s also not shy about expressing his opinions at the mounting block—picture a cranky yet affectionate elderly man, and you’ve got DeMarco down!
That said, don’t be deterred by his quirks! DeMarco absolutely loves attention and is obsessed with treats. He also enjoys soaking up the sun with his equine friends, though he can get a little buddy sour if separated from his herd. Once he settles, he’s a sweet and respectful companion.
DeMarco is well-behaved with our vets and farrier and is comfortable both in his stall and out in the pasture. He is currently on an annual dental float schedule, but given his age, it’s a good idea to have his teeth checked every six months.
Adoption Fee: $300 Height: 14.2hh Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 125lbs
