My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willy von Wilster is a 2 year old handsome black and tan shepherd with a heart as big as his smile. Willy is a sweet, affectionate boy who is looking for a loving forever home. Willy has a wonderful temperament — he’s friendly, social, and enjoys meeting new people and dogs alike. He walks beautifully on a leash, staying close to his handler, and knows basic commands like “sit” and “down.” Willy thrives on affection and will happily lean against you for extra attention. He is also housebroken. In playgroups, Willy is an excellent greeter and enjoys socializing with other dogs. His play style can be active but he can also be gentle depending on his playmate. He will even entertain himself with some toys. Willy would love a home where he can be part of the family’s daily activities, whether it’s going for walks, exploring the yard, or snuggling on the couch. With his medium energy level, he’s a great balance of playful and relaxed.

Rescued from the SEACCA animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
