Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Clove is a very lucky gal! This little four- leaf clover came to the shelter overwhelmed and undersocialized and has had so many advocates help her on her journey! Still a sensitive girl, we’d love to see her leave the shelter behind for good.
Clove spent a week in a foster home where she did very well with the other resident dogs. In another home of several weeks, she was house and crate trained and reportedly liked car rides and LOVED playing with toys.
Here’s what Clove’s friends have shared about her journey:
“Once scared and avoidant, now when Clove sees me walking towards her kennel she comes to the front of the kennel as if to see what is going on. When I`m ready to take her out, she comes to the front and waits patiently for me to leash her up, which is super easy to do. On our walk past the barking dogs she just ignores them as she doesn’t want to be bothered with that. I feel she enjoys getting out of her kennel for a few minutes to see the outside world. Once outside our walk is easy she does pretty well. When we come across other dogs, she usually stops and watches them briefly then continues on her walk. When we stop for a break, she is willing to take treats from my hand and allows (and seems to like) pets on the top of her head. She even has bursts of spirited energy. Oh how I wish I could let her off her leash at those times and let her be free! She`s young and was under-socialized, but has come a long way toward being a great dog.”
“I took Clove and her kennelmate to the yard. She is a scared and shy young thing, mainly exploring and sniffing the yard. Once I sat on the ground, she bravely came up to sniff me a couple times. Then I offered biscuits, which she took from my outstretched hand and stood close by me while I was typing this, waiting for more biscuits!! She even licked my finger (surely checking for any biscuit remains). Brave, sweet girl.”
Clove will need time and patience to settle in to a home and learn what it is to be safe and cherished family member. If you have what it takes to help Clove be the best girl she can be, please ask to meet her!
