My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.

Poor little Poe has faced so much hardship as a former outdoor cat. From a very stubborn flea and ear mite infestation that caused him to lose much of his facial fur, to being attacked and left wounded, and most recently nearly passing from an incredibly severe respiratory infection during the hard winter. Each time has been a long road to recovery but if you didn’t know this about Poe, you’d think he’s just been enjoying the comforts of the indoors his whole life. He is as gentle and sweet as a cat parent could ever hope for. Truly a pure soul who deserves all the love and caring he has coming his way. Despite the tough hand he’s been dealt in life, Poe remains a sweet boy who wants nothing more than some love and attention. He enjoys a good scratch session around his neck and head, chirping at mealtime, and being incredibly relaxed. Indoor Poe has only been an indoor cat for about three months, as the health circumstances he was facing forced more constant care and attention. Poe remained strong and friendly throughout, always eager for some love from his caretaker. Because Poe is still adjusting to the life of an indoor cat, I ask you have patience as he continues to adjust to new sounds (what the heck is that square you’re looking at with all the noise?!?) and his environment. He’s a little shy and cautious at first but really opens up when fed and shown that you’re there to be his friend. He is also still adjusting to litterbox life but please don’t let that discourage you from adopting him. I’ve found that a high-sided seems to be perfect as he still likes to really bury things out of instinct. I am willing to provide his current box to any adopter bringing him to a loving home if that’s any incentive. He seems to be completely unbothered, and frankly uninterested in, other cats. He was always kind to the other community cats and let them eat first, or even get bullied away from a bowl. He’s just a sweetheart who is as kind as he is resilient. Letting Poe go out for adoption is such an emotional roller coaster. I am going to miss seeing him and having him around so very much. I’ve cared for him for over a year as a community cat, but know that it is in his best interest to find a quieter environment (I already have several cats with much more eccentric personalities) where he can finally nuzzle in and call home forever. He’s just too docile and kind for the tough conditions that outdoor life can bring. Plus, he’s surely going to prove to be a beloved member of his new family, providing love and snuggles for all his days. Please consider making this remarkable, tenderhearted, gentle, young man the newest member of your family. I know it will be among the best decisions you ever make. He is spayed, UTd on vaccines and tested negative for FIV/FelV. Litterbox trained. His birthday is 9-15-23

Poe will be at Nine Lives Cat Café 3/28/25 until 4/15/25. To schedule a time to meet him and other ARPO kitties, please visit  ninelivescatcafe.com.  Normal ARPO adoption requirements still apply.
