Marlene is a sweet senior kitty (perhaps 10+ years old) who was brought to the HSOV on March 1, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Harmar Street in Marietta Ohio a couple of days earlier.
Marlene has a truly heartbreaking background story, and we are thankful that she is safely in our shelter where she will never again be treated with anything other than loving kindness and good nutritional food/clean water.
Though she is a senior citizen, Marlene was pregnant and and was in the process of giving birth when she entered our shelter (and one kitten had already passed away). Marlene gave birth to three more kittens and none of them survived. Our compassionate kennels techs quickly gave Marlene 4 little stuffed lambchop toys to help her mourn her loss and provide some comfort to her.
Marlene has a gentle, very docile, personality and wants nothing except someone to be kind to her .. And she has certainly been granted that one wish in our shelter.
Marlene has a black short smooth coat with auburn shading (perhaps from being outdoors in the sunshine/elements), a long tail, and an adorable face with dark blue eyes, a black button nose, and extra-long whiskers.
We believe that Marlene could possibly be vision-impaired.
Marlene was given vaccinations, wormer and flea treatment on March 4, 2025. She weighed 7 lbs that day.
This little sweetheart is now enjoying a tower in the lobby of our shelter. Marlene is most often seen taking catnaps or munching on senior cat chow and gourmet wet food.
These photos were taken on various dates in March 2025. The photos with Marlene and her four little white 'lambchops' were taken March 4th & March 6th. The photos of Marlene with brightly colored blankets in her tower were taken on March 21st.
Marlene is looking for a Guardian Angel who would offer her a retirement home where she could spent her golden years in a peaceful environment and loved/pampered to her heart's content either through adoption or rescue.

Update: Marlene was taken to a veterinary clinic on April 22, 2025 for her spay procedure but, unfortunately, she was a little 'under the weather' and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Marlene is currently on antibiotics and will hopefully feel better by mid-May 2025 and will be able to undergo anesthesia/surgery at that time.
Marlene has an approved adoption pending and will have a fabulous home after she is spayed.
