My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Zuzu was brought in by his previous owner on March 25, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet the one and only Zuzu-a cat with a name as fun to say as he is to have around! He might start off acting like a mysterious stranger, but give him some time, and he'll be nudging you for pets like an old friend. He enjoys a calm environment and would do best in a home without dogs or the excitement of young children. Think of him as the refined type-more "quiet coffee shop" than "rock concert." Zuzu does come with a bit of a special feature: his ears need some extra TLC. He has a treatable condition that can make them itchy and prone to infections, but with regular care, he'll be feeling great. He also has mild dental disease and a fractured tooth which will require dental care in the near future. When it comes to settling in, Zuzu is all about the slow and steady approach. He'll need a cozy, designated space where he can decompress and take in his new surroundings at his own pace. A kingdom fit for a cat-minus the royal obligations. If you're ready to roll out the welcome mat for this special guy, don't forget to bring a top-loading carrier. He insists on making a grand entrance in style!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
