Kiki is a 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix (with a little Chihuahua, we think!) weighing in at 12 lbs of pure love and personality. She’s a social butterfly who adores people, gets along great with other dogs, and would love nothing more than a family that will cherish her forever.

Kiki’s story is heartbreaking to us. She found herself at a small shelter in Carlsbad, NM—twice. The first time, her family came to reclaim her after she was picked up as a stray. But when she ended up there again, the shelter reached out, expecting them to come get her. Instead, her owners coldly responded, “Well, if she wants to keep going there, she can stay there” and hung up.

While it’s heartbreaking that Kiki was so easily discarded, we are beyond grateful she’s getting a second chance at the life she truly deserves. She’s a happy, playful, and affectionate girl who will make an amazing companion. Whether it’s cuddling up on the couch, going for walks, or playing with doggy friends, Kiki is just so ready to be part of a loving home.

Now she is ready to find a family here in Colorado who would never dream about leaving her at the shelter.

Kiki is appropriately active for her age and enjoys exploring her surroundings. She’s also incredibly cuddly and sweet, making her the perfect balance of fun and affection. Her Beagle intelligence and Chihuahua charm are on full display in her inquisitive nature and adorable expressions.

Kiki is a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. With positive reinforcement training, she has all the potential in the world to be a loyal, well-mannered adult companion. She’ll thrive with virtual or in-person force-free training classes, which will help strengthen her bond with her humans and build her confidence.

Kiki is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
