My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: Approx 2.5 years //

Meet Elliot, the goofball with a heart of gold (and a slightly mischievous glint in his eye)! This medium-energy dude is the perfect blend of cuddly couch potato and adventurous explorer. Think of him as a furry, four-legged chameleon – happy to chill on the sofa or hit the trails with you. He's got that perfect "I'm totally relaxed, unless...SQUIRREL!" energy.
Now, Elliot's got a tiny bit of baggage (we're talking adorable quirks, not actual suitcases). He's a bit shy with new people, sometimes reacting defensively if handled by strangers. He occasionally lets out a playful "RAWR!" when he wants to play, but it's more of a quirky hello than a true threat. He's also a toy aficionado – a connoisseur, even – and needs a family who will help him learn to share (it's a work in progress!). Oh, and he's a heartworm survivor – a total champion who's rocking his post-treatment life!
Kids? Maybe not quite yet. Elliot needs a little time to warm up to new friends, and a slower-paced household who enjoys casusal walking would be ideal for him. He'll need a family who understands his need for a gentle approach and who will respect his personal space until he feels comfortable. He's crate-averse (who isn't sometimes?), but sleeps like a dream in his own comfy bed. Other dogs? Loves 'em! Dog-savvy cats? Absolutely! But a cat who isn't used to dogs? Might be a bit much for now as Elliot wants to play with all his friends.
Once Elliot trusts you, prepare for an avalanche of cuddles, playful zoomies, and a whole lot of love. He's a fantastic walker, reliably housetrained, and just an all-around good boy. He's looking for experienced humans who understand his needs, who can give him the space to be himself, and who will shower him with the patience and affection he so richly deserves. Think you've got what it takes to be Elliot's forever human? Apply now and prepare to be smitten! (And yes, we'll warn you about the occasional "RAWR!") www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We do not host adoption events. We do bring some of our dogs to fundraisers to meet potential adopters who then must complete the full adoption process.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster based rescue who focuses on helping areas of overpopulation and dogs in desperate situations. We are run by dedicated volunteers and generally only have a handful of dogs in care at one time so we can focus on exactly what they need to feel better and find a loving home.
