My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you would like more information about Spike or are interested in adopting him, please send an email to ptempleton02@gmail.com

Just before the hard freeze, I found this sweet stray boy right off the highway near Aldine. He is a medium-sized male with a beautiful coat. He appears to be a Lab/German Shepherd mix around 18 months old. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a collar or any tags. I took him to Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital to check for a microchip, but none was found.

While there, I also made sure he received all of his vaccinations. I learned he is heartworm-positive, so we’ve started him on Tri-Heart Plus as a preventive step while trying to get him the help he needs. I also gave him flea and tick medication and proper cleaning and grooming. I hope all of these things will help get him a home.

Sweet Spike is truly something special. He’s gentle, super friendly, and loves hanging out with both people and other dogs. He has this calm, comforting presence, even though he’s got plenty of playful energy. He’s one of the quietest dogs ever. He rarely barks or whines. Spike is such a lovebug. He adores snuggles and has this cute habit of squeezing himself into little spaces between your arms or legs just to be close. He’s not picky about where you pet him. Belly rubs, head scratches, and full on bear hugs are all fine. He thinks he is a lap dog, considering how he lays on people!

An adorable thing Spike does is that he brings out his blankie like it’s his prized possession. It’s the sweetest thing. He’ll carry it around, cuddle with it, or just lay on it like it’s his safe little spot. He’s also incredibly smart and eager to please. He already knows to sit, shake, and lie down. He loves showing off his tricks, especially before mealtime or treats. Speaking of food, he has no food aggression at all. He eats and drinks just fine and is super respectful around food.

Whether he’s chasing a ball in the yard or curled up beside you, Spike is just happy to be near people. He’s sweet, obedient, and truly a joy to have around. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly, and all around amazing dog, Spike might just be your perfect match. Whoever gets to adopt him is going to be so lucky.
