Meet Freddie, a one-year-old Cocker Spaniel-Poodle (cockapoo) mix with a heart full of love and a desire to finally experience the world. Freddie’s life before coming to our rescue was much different from what most dogs experience. He was born into a breeding operation and spent the first year of his life with very little exposure to people outside of his home. Because of this, he didn’t get the socialization he needed as a puppy, making new experiences feel overwhelming at times. When the breeder no longer needed him, they decided to surrender him, and that’s when his journey toward a better life truly began.
Since arriving at our rescue, we’ve been working closely with Freddie to help him build confidence and learn to trust new people. He is naturally sweet and affectionate, but his lack of early socialization means he is still adjusting to the world around him. When excited or wanting attention, Freddie will often bark. It’s his way of expressing himself and making sure he’s noticed! While it’s something we’ve been working on, he will need a patient adopter willing to continue his training and provide the structure he needs to thrive.
Freddie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines, so he’s fully ready to find his forever home.He also had a groom and enjoyed his spa day. He does get a bit car sick on car rides but tries to enjoy them on his plush bed.
He is also crate-trained and sleeps peacefully in his crate at night. Throughout the day, he enjoys napping in his plush bed inside his crate, making it his own little safe space. He is house-trained as well, following a strict schedule here with us and hasn’t had any accidents in our home. Maintaining a routine will be key to his continued success in his new environment.
He would do best in a home with someone who has the time and dedication to continue working with him, offering him the love, patience, and reassurance he craves. He loves one on one time whether outside playing fetch or just cuddling on the couch watching a good movie. Despite his past, he’s a resilient, loving boy who just wants to be part of a family.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog who needs a little extra love to blossom, Freddie could be the perfect fit. With the right home, he will continue to grow into the amazing companion we know he can be. If you’re interested in giving him the second chance he deserves, submit an adoption application today!

More about this rescue
Rescue has always been a part of my life. As the oldest of eight children, I grew up helping my parents run their dog rescue, watching firsthand the dedication, hard work, and love it took to save lives. While it was challenging, their success and passion inspired me. I eventually took a break from rescue work to serve in the Navy, but after my contract ended, I found myself with time on my hands while my husband was still in. That’s when I decided to start my own rescue in Virginia. Once his contract was over, we moved to California to be closer to family, and I continued this mission full-time.
At K9 Oasis Rescue, our goal is to save and rehabilitate abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs. We provide them with medical care and a safe place in our home until they are fully vetted and ready for adoption. My parents specialized in rescuing pit bulls, and now we focus more so on other breeds. While we still try to help as many as possible, we now focus on dogs with less aggressive demeanors to ensure we can provide the best care and rehabilitation for each one.
Rescue work isn’t easy. It’s emotional, exhausting, and sometimes heartbreaking. But at the end of the day, seeing a once-neglected dog transform into a happy, healthy companion makes it all worth it. Every wagging tail, every moment of trust gained, and every adoption story fuels my passion. Growing up, I watched my parents dedicate their lives to this work, and now I truly understand why they never gave up. These dogs don’t just need saving; they need someone to believe in them. That’s why I do this! Because every dog deserves a second chance, and I want to be the one to give it to them.
Thank you for supporting small rescues and opening your hearts and homes to dogs that just need some extra love and support ❤️🐾
