Pssst. Come here. My name is Rubble and I am an Old English Bulldog who is looking to be adopted thanks to my good friends at Houston Boxer Rescue. I know that seems odd. They usually rescue boxers, and I am not a boxer… But believe me, my situation was desperate. Let me tell you my story and you will understand.
So I was at a shelter on the East side of town. I had been there awhile and no one came for me. All of the volunteers fell in love with me and I was grateful for their love and attention. I was lucky and was able to get a couple of extra days while the volunteers at the shelter tried to find someone to adopt me or a rescue to take me in. However, no matter how hard the volunteers tried, they were coming up empty on options for me. None of the rescues had space and the shelter needed the space I was staying in. So that was it, my time was up. I had until the end of the day and then it was going to be lights out for me. I couldn’t believe that was how my story was going to end. Neither could the volunteers. I finally resigned myself to my fate, when one of the volunteers decided to throw a “Hail Mary” pass. She had a friend who volunteered with Houston Boxer Rescue. She said she would call them to see if they could help or had any other contacts. We all knew it was a long shot, given that I’m not a boxer, but she said it couldn’t hurt to ask.
Well as it turns out HBR did not have any other rescue contacts that could help me. But when they saw my picture, and found out I literally had less than hour left, they told the shelter volunteer they would help! The volunteer agreed to help foster me, and they agreed to use their platform to help me find a home. It was literally a last second miracle! My miracle! And that, my friends, is the story of how an Old English Bulldog ended up for adoption through Houston Boxer Rescue!
Now that we have addressed the elephant in the room, let me tell you a little bit more about me. As I said, my name is Rubble. I am so excited to be here and to be meeting you. I am a very sweet, lovable, healthy young lady.The vet thinks I am only two to three years old. I love other dogs and I like to play, play, play! I also really love people. They make me happy and I like making them happy, so it’s a win-win.
More than anything, I so very badly want a family of my own; a family that I can love forever and who will love me forever. Anyway, I know you came here looking to find a boxer, but why not give this Bulldog a try? I promise you will not regret doing so!
