My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Skeeter, a charming and friendly male cat who captures hearts with his gentle spirit and affectionate nature. This sweet fluffy guy is 1 year and 7 months old, looking for his forever home!

Despite his sociable demeanor, Skeeter experiences a bit of insecurity, making him all the more endearing. He thrives on love and patience, and those who take the time to bond with him will be rewarded with a loyal companion.

This handsome fellow has a penchant for observation; he can often be found perched by the window, gazing out at the world with wide-eyed curiosity. His favorite spot is the highest point of his beloved cat tree, where he can survey his kingdom and bask in the warmth of the sun.

Playtime is a joy for Skeeter, especially when it involves small toys that he can bat around and chase. However, he has a peculiar aversion to anything stick-shaped, preferring to keep his playtime fun and free from those pesky items. He also loves a good afternoon nap. He knows when it’s feeding time and will be sure to remind me if I forget.

This handsome fellow currently lives with three adult humans and two resident cats. He is cautious but loving—he definitely wants to be around people, but people take a second place to cats. Skeeter really needs a special cat friend to keep him company, play with him, and help him gain confidence in his new home.

As Skeeter embarks on his journey to find an emotional support partner, he seeks humans who are around a lot who will offer him the love and understanding he needs. With the right forever people and a loving cat friend, Skeeter is sure to flourish, bringing joy and warmth into their lives. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful feline, Skeeter is waiting for you!

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
