Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of March 2025 SEX: Female

Approximate Weight: 33 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.

Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter - Koko needs a foster or adopter to make her way to the DC area.

Koko is Looking For:

Koko is a 2-year-old Red Heeler with a heart full of love and a mind ready for adventure! This smart, medium-sized girl has all the classic traits of her breed—she’s intelligent, loyal, and always eager to learn. Right now, though, she hasn't seen nearly enough of the world and is eager to get her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and grand adventures to burn all that young-dog energy. Quality kibble, cushy dog bed, treatos - all good but bottom line, she wants to be safe and loved and know where she belongs. In exchange she promises active, loyal companionship for all her days.

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
