Little Jon is a delightful 5-month-old puppy weighing 21 pounds who is ready for his furever home. He was rescued as a stray in Ohio, and Beagles R Us Rescue has ensured that all his needs are met before he transitions to his forever home. He walks well on a leash but shows a preference against harnesses, and we are actively working on that aspect of his training. He is crate-trained and has had only a few indoor accidents; he signals his need to go outside by approaching the door.
Although he experiences some separation anxiety, this has improved considerably. He is comfortable in his crate during the night and when we are away for work. When at home, he prefers to have his human in his sight at all times. Initially, he would only go outside to potty when accompanied, but he now confidently ventures out with his canine siblings and engages in play without requiring your presence. He will let you know when he is ready to come inside with his beagle bark.
Little Jon has the playful energy typical of a beagle puppy. He enjoys cuddling with his family and playing with his canine siblings. He interacts well with dogs of all sizes; his current housemates include a pit bull, two corgi mixes, and a chihuahua. While he generally respects the cats in the home, he does attempt to play with them, and if they show disapproval, he can be easily redirected.
Despite some stubbornness typical of the breed, he has begun to understand commands such as "no," "come," and sometimes "leave it." Training will require patience, as he may occasionally ignore commands. However, he is a smart beagle and is capable of further learning with consistent guidance.
We encourage you to consider adopting Little Jon. He would thrive in an active home with a fenced yard and would benefit tremendously from having another dog to play with. While he has not been exposed to children, we believe he would adapt well, provided they are taught to respect his space. Little Jon has never shown aggression and is a loving addition to any family.
