Bernard was born feral, trapped at 3 months old and given the opportunity of a lifetime to be an indoor kitty. This is quite lucky for him because he lived in an incredibly dangerous area. He’s still VERY timid and unsure of humans, so he’ll need a patient & compassionate adopter who can give him a calm & consistent environment to help him gain the confidence he needs to flourish as a house kitty. He can be enticed to interact with humans with a good wand toy, Temptations treats or Churu. Bernie would like his furr-ever to have at least one other pet companion. He loved rough housing and snuggling with his feline foster siblings and would probably do ok with a gentle, QUIET dog.
Bernie’s instincts still tell him to hide. His adopter should start him in a smaller space with no hiding places until he’s VERY comfortable with his new human(s). (Bathrooms are good place for this.)
Come meet Bernard at the Aurora PetSmart (5520 S Parker Rd) from 11am-5pm.
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email cats@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/
Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
