Meet Arlo, our little hero who came to us as a starving kitten. His long black fur was sunburned and tinged with red, likely from being accidentally locked away somewhere. He was half his healthy weight, lethargic, and scared.

After five months of love and nutritious food, Arlo is now ready for his forever home. Though he may be a bit shy around strangers at first, it's understandable given his past. With a little patience and time, Arlo will adjust to his new home and family. In return, you'll be rewarded with his loud purrs and sweet head butts. Arlo loves attention on his own terms and demands it when hi is in the mood for pets. He is also a mischievous boy. He will take a drink out of your glass or stick his paw in it, he might steal your food, and he will shred your papers, so keep important documents locked away. There is never a dull moment. He is a bit afraid of young children, but older children are fine. He must have had a bad experience along the way with a dog, so he is slow to warm up to them. He has been fine with the senior dog at his foster home and is now tolerating the younger more energetic dog. We meet at the Hixson Petsmart on Hwy 153.

We require a contract in addition to the application.

Our general fee is $100, but sometimes it is more or less depending on the situation.

Our name is our mission statement. SCRATCH -

H- Helping cat caretakers.

We are a cat welfare organization that concentrates on helping feral cat colony caretakers manage their colonies through TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). The outcome of managed colonies is fewer free roaming cats, healthier colonies and no new kittens. This will keep more cats out of shelters and result in less euthanasia. You can see how this is preferable to the trap and kill method that has been common in the past. During this process, we acquire friendly cats that have become homeless and found their way to the food source, and kittens that are young enough to socialize. These are the cats and kittens that make up most of our adoptable population.

All of our adoptable kitties are completely vetted and are observed for personality and behavior. Our kittens are given constant human contact and interaction and most are completely socialized to people by 3 months. We will sometimes have a few slow learners and we keep working with them, but we will also offer them for adoption, so their new owner can complete the socializing process. The advantage to this is having a cat that is totally bonded to you. The disadvantage is that they are often shy around others for quite awhile.
